HP/Agilent  Filaments for 5971, 5972, 5973

Part numbers for spares and replacements seem to change regurlarly at Agilent.  Here is the latest on the filament part numbers for the 597x line of Mass Spectrometers.

                   5971-60140     Original filament number, now discontinued.  Available from outside sources.  See note below.

                   05972-60053      Original filament number, now discontinued

                   G2590-60053      Replacement filament part number, now discontinued

        5972/5973/5975

                    G3170-60050      New Filament for the 5972 and 5973, Hi Temperature capable, 4-loop

New 5972, 5973 and 5975  filaments are available only at Aglient or one of its licensed distributors.   If you call SIS in New Jersey, they can "remanufacture" your broken 5972 filaments.  You must have a good base and good posts.   In other words, your filament wire must be burned out, but the rest of the filament "assembly" must be in good shape.  SIS also sells the 5971 filament, but is  PROHIBITED from selling NEW 5972/3/5 filements.   This is pure speculation but - my guess is that they  MAKE the filaments for Agilent.  That's why they can't sell their "own version".
