Here is the software Update that you seek.
Find it at the very bottom of this page. The instructions for using this update is found immediately above the file link.
Notice for brand new customers: We usually give our new customers an Expiration date of only 5-6 weeks. This kind of encourages our new customers to stay in close contact. Then, after that initial time frame, we ALWAYS give our customers an extended expiration date (well beyond support of the instrument) at no charge.
Some customers purchase an upgrade but don't get around to installing the upgrade until after the initial expiration date expires. In this case follow these instructions:
Refer to the Installation Instructions that accompanied your upgrade kit. Follow the instructions as provided. When you come to Step 11 on Page 3............. STOP after using the CheckKey.exe program to verify that your key has been successfully installed. Note that since you waited to install the kit, your APK has expired.
NOW, download the appropriate Update program (as provided by CSS Analytical) and run the small .exe program as instructed. This will update your APK to a new expiration date. Use the CheckKey.exe program to see that the update was successful.
Continue with the Installation Instructions provided with the kit... commencing at the second portion of Step 11 on Page 3..... "Use the configuration program to configure your instrument.... "
Some users have encountered an unpleasant message from the CSS Anti Piracy Key when they reset their PC date back in time. Date tracking is an integral part of the Anti Piracy Key and caused their key to be disabled. If you experience this and want to get things running again, follow the procedure below:
1. Exit all software
2. Remove the Anti Piracy Key (APK) from the PC
3. Reboot PC
4. Set the computer date to the correct date
5. Reboot again
6. Plug the APK into the USB port, wait for the familiar "ding" that says a USB
device has been found
7. Run the "Update Program" again, the one you downloaded from the CSS web site.
Just double click on the program, it runs
almost instantly.
8. Run the program CheckKey.exe, a program located in the CSS Program Group
to verify that the APK is in place and has a proper date.
9. Start Chemstation again.
Occasionally we have received comments indicating that the customer's PC has all of a sudden decided NOT to recognize the APK ..... Even if the CSS Analytical CheckKey.exe program is able to recognize the key. This is a PC USB issue. USB is kind of fickle at times.
Follow these instructions to restore USB recognition of the APK:
1. Reboot, wait 5 min
2. Verify that the key is good using Checkkey.exe
3. Go to your PC Control Panel, then to Device Manager
4. Scroll down to find the entry for "USB Dongle – Software Protection Device"
5. Right Click and "Uninstall"
6. Remove the APK
7. Reboot, wait 5 min
8. Insert the APK into your USB port
9. Watch and listen (for the “dong”) for Windows XP to "Find New Hardware"
10. A dialog box will come up asking "if you can connect to windows update". SAY NO, then click next
11. Click on "Install Automatically" and then click next
12. After it is "finished" , use CheckKey.exe to verify that the APK is found again
13. Reboot one more time, wait 5 min
14. Start Chemstation and try again
