CSS Analytical Particle Beam Interface for Agilent 5973/75 MSD or your EI mass spec. This Benchtop LCMS system is an excellent tool for the analysis of samples where traditional LCMS techniques such as electrospray or apci, have special difficulties. Or, for when it is necessary to positively identify your results by comparing them to a commercial library of mass spectral data.
As a complimentary technique to your existing ESI instrument. When additional or different information is needed, you already have the chromatography worked out. Send the same vial, using the same column and mobile phase conditions to the particle beam and get library searchable EI spectra.
In one of our most recent paper, "Identification of Antineoplastic and Neurotrophic Lignans in Medicinal Prairie Plants by Liquid Chromatography Electron Impact Mass Spectrometry (LC/EI/MS)" we have confirmed the identity of a potential cancer-fighting agent that could verify the purported activities claimed by the Plains Indians of a particular medicinal plant. The use of the CSS Analytical Particle Beam Interface permits the rapid assessment of plant extracts for the presence of medicinally active compounds with a minimum of pre-purification.
In the case of environmental PNA’s you can ionize the sample without difficult and time consuming hplc modifications required with electrospray or apci.
In the cases where unknown peaks may be encountered or legal defensibility is a necessity, for example in pharmaceutical development, drugs of abuse or forensics. Such a case is with a sample like the St. John’s Wart. Here even though electrospray or apci do an excellent job of detecting the peak, the information contained in the spectrum may be found lacking when a positive identification is needed. For this reason the power of library searching an electron impact spectrum becomes apparent.
For sensitivity, separation, and identification purposes the CSS Particle Beam and Agilent Technologies, Inc. 5973/75 Benchtop LCMS system is an excellent choice.
The particle beam interface, long forgotten by commercial vendors could still play an important role in your research. Contact us today for more information !
