Data System Upgrades for your HP / Agilent 5970, 5971, 5972 and 5988 and 5989 Mass Spectrometer Systems.  CSS has developed our own proprietary upgrade kit which will allow all older HP Mass Spectrometer systems (and standalone GC systems too !) to be recognized and operated by modern Agilent Chemstation Software and Microsoft Windows 7  (XP still available). 

It is now possible to take full advantage of easy, repeatable nano spray using the the Agilent Chip product with Thermo LTQ, Velos, Orbitrap, Q Exactive or Vantage triple quadrupole mass spectrometers.  An Agilent HPLC-Chip Cube MS Interface (G4240A) is modified by CSS Analytical Co Inc. and with a custom built interface, it easily attaches to any Thermo Scientific mass spectrometer with an IonMax source housing. The Agilent Chip (various part numbers) is a credit card sized, disposable product, which offers an enrichment column, an analytical column, a column switching valve and an electrospray (ESI) emitter – all on one micro-fabricated chip.

I started CSS Analytical Co Inc. in my home some 23+ years ago.  I did most of the work, but my wife helped out with shipping, receiving, invoicing and bill paying.   Our office (World Wide Headquarters) remains in my home so that my wife will continue to help with some of the administrative tasks.  Our Laboratory is in an industrial park about 2 miles from the office.  We have 3000 sq. ft.  half of which is unfinished warehouse and half is finished office / laboratory.  There we have two instrument labs, one electronics lab, and one miscellaneous laboratory in addition to an inventory area and machine shop.

Doing Business with CSS Analytical is very easy.   We're a small company and very flexible.   We've permanently retired our fax machine so we prefer that you send purchase orders by scanning them and emailing them.  We really don't want to make any mistakes translating a ship to address for critical parts you need tomorrow.

CSS Analytical modifies both the Agilent Chip Cube Box and the individual Chips.  We sell both new and used pre-modified Chip Cube Boxes and also modified Chips for very reasonable prices.  We service and support our modified cube boxes and in some cases will even warranty your Agilent Box if modified by us.  We can also arange for short term rental or long term lease of the Agilnet hardware.    Contact us for details.

This two-column chip is the key, it provides easy, repeatable, walk up – drop and spray nano ESI. The system configuration looks like this:   There are two HPLC pumping systems, which can be any brand but we think that Agilent 1100 and 1200 systems are awesome.   A  Micro-capillary pumping system will load the On-Chip trapping column.  After the trapping column is loaded, the On-Chip valve switches and a Nano pumping system takes over to elute the analyte off the trapping column and onto the On-Chip analytical column.  Loading is done at around 4.0 ul/min,  the analytical gradient is run at 500 nl/min.  Of course a PC and Chemstation will be required to run the Agilent modules.  We can also help you connect your other HPLC systems, any brand and any software.  We have been very resourceful in setting up the PC system for joint LTQ, Chip Delivery System and HPLC control.   All parts of the system are interconnected with remote start cables so full sequencing is straight forward, making automated runs easy.

SPECIAL NOTE FOR SPARE PARTS AND ELECTRONICS SALES: Parts are subject to availability. Prices subject to change without notice. Shipping/Handling charges for all parts to and from the customer are extra and are the responsibility of the buyer, and will be added to the invoice amount. Price includes exchange of your repairable identical board.  Most customers must ship your board to us prior to release of shipment of the refurbished board.  Add $1100 (in most cases) if you do not have a board to exchange. For first time customers we accept Visa/MC or Paypal.

Because the rarity of these parts and pieces, there is no return policy for refurbished boards.  Every part is tested here before we ship.  We do not provide boards for your troubleshooting needs.

If you wish, you can send us your suspected "dead" board and we will bench test it to confirm its "deadness", and then sell you a replacement. Our bench rate is $150 per hour for inspection and testing.  Should you then wish to purchase a replacement board, we will normally forgo the bench test labor.  Ask for details.
